The Buckingham Stone stands on private land. Anyone hoping to ‘visit’ it needs to ask the landowners permission first! Anyone attempting to visit it without the landowners permission will be committing trespass!!
Thanks for the update, i was told by a friend who lives in the area that it was all open access moorland up there. I have just checked on the Natural England website and the open access does indeed stop 100 metres to the north of the stone. What's the best way to contact the land owner for anyone interested in this piece of local history?
Thanks for the pointer - I have not heard of those sites, so i will have a look into them. From looking on the map it does look an interesting spot. I live near York so Richmond is not that far away. but its an area i have not really looked at for some reason. Cheers
Hello! I am working on a Canadian documentary TV series. In one episode we discuss the variety of incredible stones discovered in the Moors after the devastating fires in 2003. (The Map Stone, the Grey Horse stone, etc.). My understanding is you have published a book about the history of such stones in the region and I am hopeful that you may have photographs of the stone discoveries that you would be willing to share with us? Please get in touch - I would love to discuss this with you further! This being for TV, of course my deadline is right around the corner. I hope to hear from you soon. Maggiemccaw@gmail.com
